The PROTECTED&PROUD Peer Educator Programme is a community-level initiative. It is about wāhine connecting with other wāhine through contraceptive kōrero. Peer educators will receive training to support their role. Training will include awareness and understanding about the contraceptive choices available to our wāhine including the most effective forms of contraception and where to access free services. Peer Educators will also be supported to develop skills in leading a contraception kōrero with their own networks (e.g. whānau, friends, groups, etc).
If you could see yourself taking on the role of a Peer Educator for this new and exciting kaupapa, we want to hear from you. The first training session will be taking place in Whakatane, between 10-2pm on Saturday 15 Feb.
RSVP is required as there are limited spots available. Click here to view the Facebook Event.
As a Peer Educator, you will be required to attend a four-hour training session and send regular updates. You will be leading change with the support of a local team providing guidance, advice and support. As a Peer Educator network we will run various celebration activities, spot prizes, and more. If you have any questions at all, please do get in touch.
PROTECTED&PROUD is a positive and informed contraceptive kaupapa across the BOP.
